Create an Enchanted Forest for your Little Princess

As the mom of a seven year old daughter who is a so-called “princess,”(according to her dad) I am constantly amazed at how many ideas and phases that she goes through. One day she is totally in love with mermaids, the next day it is princesses, and who knows what the next big thing is in my little girl’s life will be.

If, like me, you want to make your little girl’s dreams come true, create her an enchanted forest in her room. It is easy to design and implement, and also easy on your budget. The focal points of an enchanted forest are the trees and fairies, and all it takes to bring this special woodland oasis alive is a little creativity. You can create the perfect setting simply by painting a huge tree filled with lots of leaves and branches on one or more of the walls in her room. This can be a do-it-yourself project, or if you know someone who is artistic and would love to do this project for you, all the better. As a last resort, you could hire an art student to help with the painting.

There are stickers made specifically for walls and decorating. Creation of the enchanted forest will require some fairies, butterflies, flowers, and small woodland creatures such as deer, bunnies, raccoons, and chipmunks. If you are artistic enough, you can paint these on the walls instead.

Now repurpose the things your daughter may already have in her room. Shelving units can be adorned with artificial vines of flowers or ivy. A swing or hanging net chair attached to the ceiling in front of one of the trees adds a rustic touch and a fun seating area for your little girl, and can also be used as place to put her stuffed animals and favorite dolls when she is finished playing with them. Use an artificial ficus tree and attach tiny white lights to give it the look of little fireflies and fairies in the trees and she will not argue when it’s time to go to bed at night.

There are many fairy and nature themed products available; there is no limit to the amount of decorating you could do in your daughter’s special space. Use your imagination to as much or as little as you want, and fit it to the space you have to work with. No matter what size, it will be a great room for your little girl to come home to and live out her dreams of being the fairy princess in a gorgeous “enchanted forest” that is just for her.
