Proactiv 365; Is It An Effective Ance Treatment?

The last 6 months have been hard on my oldest as he hit puberty. Aside from the body changes, acne has become an issue for him. His skin has become very oily and the t-zone of his face has been breaking out like crazy.

We’ve tried several different acne treatments; creams face washes, spot treatments, all with no great success. It’s very frustrating when you’re faced with a skin issues, especially for school aged children.

I’ve heard of Proactive for a few years via TV infomercials. I’ve even watched a few of them, showing testimonials from Proactiv users. I’ve just never been a fan of advertising via infomercials. It’s been my experience that anything sold on the late nite commercials were not worth the money. I’ve ordered a few things from those and to be honest, nothing was anywhere near what I’d expected. So, I never even considered giving it a try until MomCentral offered my son the opportunity to give Proactiv 365 a test spin.

Proactiv offers a 3-step acne treatment system that seemed easy enough for anyone to use.

Step 1 – A Renewing Cleanser. An oil-free, soap-free medicated exfoliating cleanser with benzoyl peroxide.

Step 2- A Revitalizing Toner. An alcohol-free toner that helps balance skin tone and remove dead skin cells

Step 3 – A Repairing Treatment. An oil-free lotion contains finely milled prescription-grade benzoyl peroxide to heal blemishes and help prevent future breakouts.

A few weeks ago we received a proactiv starter kit that included the 3 step Proactiv products with a bottle of Refining Mask and Green Tea Moisturizer. Included in our package was information on the 365 program. The 365 program includes access to a Skin Care Advisors that are available for support or help 24/7/365 via online chat, email and phone.

{What We Thought About Proactiv}

My son has been using proactive for almost 2 weeks now, two times per day (morning and evening). At first he was not very excited about having to use a product two x’s daily, but has gotten in the pattern of using it before bedtime and when he wakes up in the morning.

The Renewing Cleanser is a white cream cleansers that has tiny beads that exfoliate dead skin cells. I’ve actually used this to see how it effected my skin and after using the cleanser my skin feels really soft. You use a small dime size amount of the cleaner, which feels grainy. The texture beads work to cleanse the skin as the 1st step in the process.

The toner is liquid and is applied via a cotton ball to skin skin after cleansing. So far he has had no skin irritations.

The repairing treatment is a lotion that is applied to the skin after the toner has dried. After two weeks there has been no drying of the skin from use.

In two weeks I have noticed a huge improvement in my sons skin! His skin appears to be healing well and the breakouts have cut down about 80%. So far this is the only acne treatment we’ve used that has shown any results and I’m impressed!

His skin is not as oily and there have been no side effects from using Proactiv. The last program we tried caused his skin to be so dry it looks like fish scales, so I was concerned. But, Proactiv has not caused any dryness so far.

At this point, I would recommend Proactiv to others suffering with acne and skin breakouts. The cost is comparable to other acne treatments yet, yield a better result. I’m excited to see his skin in two more weeks!

Proactiv has several different starter systems, so there is a treatment for every skin type!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Proactiv and received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
