Need a Fresh Outfit for Easter? Seven Truly Wearable Spring Fashion Trends for 2011

When you think ‘Easter dress’, does your mind automatically jump to girls in white tights, pastel dresses and Mary Janes? You’re not the only one. But you’re also not ten years old, so you’re on the prowl for grown-up, wearable fashion trends this spring. Not too girly, not too crazy (unless you’re feeling bold!) — we’ve got just what you need. From updated traditional to completely innovative, we want you looking fresh this spring.

Florals

No question about it, spring/summer fashion trends have always incorporated florals in one way or another, but in 2011 flowers are not just for printed dresses anymore.

Try tucking some bright blooms (real ones or frankly fakes) into a circa-20’s updo or loose waves. Allow the flowers alone to steal the spotlight, or dress them up with vintage, jeweled or feathered hair clips.

Colors

Ultra feminine, pastel colors are traditional for spring. If you love this flirty palate, check out the runway.

Grown-up cuts, fabrics and colors can pick up a youthful vibe when combined as separates. Pastel skinny jeans with a bubble skirt? Why not? Have fun with mixing and matching, but don’t forget to keep it classy.

In the mood for something more daring? Fashion this season is heavily influenced by 70s and retro glam. You just couldn’t get away from all the tangerine on the runway.

So, wild thing, try rockin’ a slightly paler shade of this flattering color, and pair it with electrifying accessories to make it really pop!

For those of you who are, like us, vexed with the same lavender eyeshadow and bright blush that appears in magazines every spring, think nude.

Nude makeup will make a big impact in a sea of orange pouts this season. For ladies who love to play with color, though, we recommend a sweet matte pink to liven up your lips.

Fabrics and Lengths

Any dress you may find yourself wearing this spring should be long and loose.

If you’re the type of woman who, like us, wants to finally show off her legs after a long winter enclosed in pants and tights, calf- knee- and above-the-knee length dresses are welcome. However, a lot of dresses on the runway have been ankle-skimming maxi dresses.

Not feeling the boho approach? Wide leg and flared jeans and trousers, channeling that 70’s vibe so apparent in fashion this season, are a chic alternative to dresses this spring.

Thin, billowy, ethereal, lovely — all are adjectives that describe Easter 2011 fabrics. Spring is the last chance before summer to really wear heavier fabrics, however, so don’t preemptively snub a nice tweed or wool.

Lace, especially all-over white lace, is huge in the fashion world right now. Before it was black Spanish lace and lace accents, but now the truly adventurous have the chance to go all-out and still be chic.

For those of you who want to tone done the trend a little but still make an impact, try a fresh white dress with lovely lace accents.

Shoes

Kitten heels and square heels have made a comeback, and a certainly far more comfortable than sky-high stilettos.
Funky, architectural shoes like those seen at Alexander McQueen are one way to make a statement, but in our opinion you can never go wrong with a practical pair of flats for spring.
