If you haven’t already heard it a thousand times, congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! As all parents do, you will want to provide the very best for your child, and having the very best nursery is just a start.
Choosing the décor for your baby nursery can be extremely overwhelming, especially for parents who are expecting for the first time. From finding the right space, to decorations and furniture items, there are so many things to consider for the little ones nursery. Focusing on a theme can be a great place to start. Although a theme isn’t always necessary, it can help when focusing and organizing your decorating ideas. Below are some simple ideas to get you up and running…
Selecting a Theme
Pick a theme and use this element to choose the items you will be using to decorate the nursery. When it comes to choosing a theme, there certainly are plenty of ideas which include:
- Cartoons – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Winnie the Pooh
- Animals – farm animals, marine animals, birds
- Teddy bears
Focusing on Your Theme
Once you have chosen a theme, it’s now time to focus on it and give it shape. If you chose animals for example, try brainstorming to generate ideas. If you focus on a specific animal such as a zebra, try color-co-ordinate the room white and black to match the animal.
Finishing Off Your Theme
Once you have chosen the colors for your theme and the relevant furniture now is the time to finish off your theme with decorations. Decorations for your baby’s nursery include wall art, lamps, bedding, window blinds etc.
Your new baby won’t take up all the space in the world, but all of its clothes and push chairs might! If you need to create more space, you could always consider a house extension before starting your painting and decorating. Your buildings insurance will need to be reviewed to cover your new addition, but you will need to get the correct approval from planning applications first.
