Top 5 Fall Trends

The sun is going down sooner, the air is getting crisper, and it’s officially fall! So what does October mean for your wardrobe? It’s time to put away those summer clothes and make room for your stash of new stylish looks. I’m a big fan of fall fashion myself, because I feel like there’s always more to work with.

1. Layering
Layering your clothes is not only a great look, but you can also cater to how you’re feeling temperature-wise. Layering a blazer, sweater vest, and a blouse will keep you warm when it’s chilly, but when you enter a heated building and start to sweat, you can also take these the blazer off and still be super stylish. Some of my favorite things to layer are cardigans, tights under shorts or skirts, and scarves with oversized sweaters.

2. Textured tights
As it gets colder, if you want to wear anything besides long pants, the best way to wear it would be with tights underneath. Opaque tights are super-slimming and sophisticated, but for some variety in your style, try tights with textures and patterns. Zig-zags, lace, knitted, polka dots, or stripes are just a few of the ways you can follow the trends this season. Get creative!

3. Biker
The biker-chick look is always in, and a leather studded jacket not only makes you look edgy and cool, but it can also keep you warm. Try leather (or pleather, animal activists), studs, chains, belts and buckles, but make sure not to overdo it. You might want to add a touch of “biker” to a feminine look, such as wearing a flowy dress with a studded purse. The combinations are endless!

4. Over-the-knee
When you’re wearing a shorter skirt or dress this fall, keep legs warm in a chic, cozy way. Knee high and thigh high socks are great looks for the cooler weather, and are perfect worn with oxfords, ankle boots, or a pair of riding boots. The most popular kinds for fall are knit or slouchy.

5. Neutrals
Tone it down: neutrals are great for the fall/winter weather. They can also be paired with anything, which makes them staples for your wardrobe. You can never go wrong with a neutral, so try a camel-colored coat, a pair of nude heels, or a tan messenger bag.

Those are only a few items trending this fall, so I recommend checking out this Fall/Winter Fashion A-Z Guide for a complete guide to this season’s fashion!
